Senior Data Architect / Manager

You are a seasoned data visionary who understand that at the core of any successful business is healthy data and data infrastructure, to enable the business to make good decisions. You are an expert in OLTP and data warehouse design, but also enjoy creating ad-hoc SQL queries to answer complex business questions. While you enjoy head’s down work, you also are good communicator who can work with various stakeholders to understand their data needs, and mentor more junior members of the team.  As manager you must be a proven technical leader who can build, lead and motivate teams. 

 

The job involves the following responsibilities:

  • Manage a small team of engineers and administrators 
  • Design and run a data infrastructure that scales
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to unlock value found in data and make it visible to others
  • Establish and standardize data practices, and lead and mentor others in them
  • Own data security standards
  • Continually monitor and optimize data stores and ETLs
  • Establish data architecture design and development standards
  • Create and implement disaster recovery and high availability plans
  • Create and implement backup and recovery plans

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience as a Data Architect
  • 8+ years of SQL experience
  • 3+ years of reporting tool experience
  • 3+ years of creating and maintaining data warehouses
  • 2+ years of disaster recovery and backup experience
  • 2+ years experience managing, leading, and mentoring teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with designing and maintaining data warehouses
  • Familiarity with microservice data schema design
  • eCommerce experience 
  • Experience with AWS
  • Experience with MySQL or PostgreSQL
  • Experience creating ERDs and data architecture diagrams
  • Familiarity with iterative software development
  • Experience with high availability configurations
