What we need...

At Hallmark Labs, you will manage the software engineers on several small cross-functional Agile teams to help them ship high quality code to production regularly. You might be someone who loves to deep dive into technical details with team members, or someone who prefers providing general technical direction and oversight. You are passionate and experienced in building both highly collaborative teams and software that scales. – And of course, you enjoy helping your teams executing on roadmap goals to deliver high quality solutions, while still helping individual team members grow.

The job involves the following responsibilities:

  • Manage engineers on multiple cross-functional Agile teams
  • Mentor and guide the professional development team members
  • Daily oversight of employees without micromanaging
  • Collaborate with the HR and Recruiting teams to hire stellar candidates from diverse backgrounds, and build well rounded teams
  • Conduct regular 1-on-1’s, as well as annual performance reviews
  • Provide continuous feedback to team members, both constructively to address performance issues, and to recognize contributions
  • Manage the balance between shipping quickly and building scalable, extensible high quality solutions
  • Nurture a spirit of continuous improvement in all the teams’ work
  • Own the teams’ deliverables
  • Communicate and address challenges and impediments before they become problems
  • Help teams dive into hard problems and successfully deliver great results on schedule

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years managing small engineering teams
  • 4+ years professional programing experience
  • Experience with the full product lifecycle, from inception to maintenance
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Deep understanding of software development on cross-functional agile teams
  • Track record of shipping high quality software on time
  • Ability to manage in an iterative development environment
  • Ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner

                       

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Exceptional knowledge of computer science fundamentals, algorithms, and data structures
  • Knowledgeable in both OO and functional languages
  • Experience with mobile application development teams
  • Experience with ecommerce or other consumer facing services
  • Familiarity with budgeting processes
